"Our pupils are creative because they are freed from conventional thinking and allowed to pursue their own thoughts and ideas."

English and Film

English is a core curriculum subject and the development of written and spoken literacy skills is central to success across a wide range of subjects. As such, a significant proportion of curriculum time is spent studying the subject at Key Stage 3. At Key Stage 4, all students study for GCSEs in both English Language and English Literature and they also have the opportunity to take up Film Studies as a further GCSE option. At A Level, English Literature, English Language & Literature and Film Studies are offered, all of which are popular choices which enable students to develop skills applicable across a wide range of degree subjects and employment choices. Academic performance in English and Film significantly exceeds national performance levels.
