Our Aim Our aim is to provide each child with a broad, balanced base of activities and enjoyable experiences which can progressively lead to selective specialisation and successful participation throughout the school years and beyond. We are concerned with making each child aware of the importance of educating the body and mind through physical fitness and good health habits. Curriculum At present all pupils receive two double periods of physical education a week, each being seventy minutes long, with a further two doubles for those in Key Stage 4 who are taking the subject to G.C.S.E. level. Year 7 All pupils will follow courses in athletics, tennis, swimming and gymnastics, with the girls following dance, rounders, netball and hockey and the boys football, rugby union, cricket and basketball. Year 8 The above courses will be followed with the addition of hockey and rounders to the boys' curriculum and football, rugby and cricket to the girls. In these two years the majority of lessons are taught in single sex groups. Year 9 The same courses will be followed as in Year 8 with the addition of volleyball, but some of the activities will be taught in mixed groups |

During all games lessons a large range of activities are offered to all pupils, either on a single sex or mixed basis. Each activity will follow a half term block and no pupil will be permitted to do the same option for both lessons in the week. Throughout these two years each student must select two activities that they wish to follow to a greater depth, and they are finally assessed on at the end of Key Stage 4. The options offered throughout the year are:- Netball, Hockey, Football, Rugby, Swimming, Badminton, Volleyball, Lacrosse, Basketball, Aerobics, Dance, Athletics, Tennis, Rounders and Cricket.
