  • Blazers to be worn at all times.
  • Girls’ kilts should not be rolled up.
  • Girls’ blouses should be tucked in unless it is fitted.
  • Boys’ shirts should be tucked in with the top button done up.
  • The crest on the boys’ ties should be visible below the knot.
  • No large items of jewellery.
  • No nail varnish.
  • No hoodies
  • No facial piercing or large ear piercing. (one set of studs)
  • Hair must be of a natural colour.
  • No coloured t-shirts (white only) under shirts/blouses/polo shirts.

The school uniform is available from THE SCHOOL SHOP, located at the back of the main hall, which is run on a voluntary basis by the Parents’ Guild.

From September to May, the School Shop will be open one Monday evening per month (7 – 8 pm) and one Saturday morning per term (10 – 11 am). For the benefit of new parents, different dates have been arranged for July and August when the shop is open for longer hours on a Saturday.

Saturday 30th June 2012                       10.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m.

Saturday 14th July 2012                        10.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m.

Saturday 25th August 2012                    10.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m.

The School Shop is not open at any other times during July and August

Chorleywood Sports Shop should be present on these dates to sell additional sports items such as football boots, rugby studs, shin pads, mouth guards, non-marking trainers and a small selection of backpacks etc. They also provide, for a small charge, a printing service for pupils’ initials on P.E. kit.

A guide to the uniform available and prices charged is enclosed for your perusal.

Please note that the Shop can only accept payment by cash or cheque supported by a cheque card. No credit cards.

The School kilt is stocked in three lengths, namely 18, 20 and 22 inches (please ensure you purchase a kilt which comes down to your daughter’s knees) in a range of waist sizes from 20 inches to 36 inches. Please note the kilts are washable but the manufacturer recommends not using fabric conditioner (as it weakens the leather strap) and not tumble drying.

The School blazer is stocked in a variety of sizes (28” chest/size 6 – 42” chest/size20) in both boys’ (with vents) and girls’ (without vents) styles.

If you feel your child may need a size of blazer or kilt outside this range of sizes, please contact Mrs Frakes on the number below as soon as possible as we are often not able to order and receive these items within the summer holidays.

Finally, please bring some kind of bag with you to take your uniform home in. Like everyone else we are trying to cut down on the number of plastic carrier bags we use!

Please address any enquiries to the parent who runs the School Shop.

P.E. PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Rickmansworth School’s P.E. Department would like to advise parents on the issue of protective equipment in physical education.

The School’s policy regarding the wearing of protective equipment is set out below:

1. The wearing of mouthguards by pupils for hockey is strongly advised and for rugby is compulsory.

  • For best results, it is recommended that mouthguards are custom-made from a dental impression. However, mouthguards can also be purchased from sports shops or the PE Department.
  • Teachers, Coaches and Referees are not qualified to assess the quality of a mouthguard. This remains the responsibility of the parent/guardian.

2.    The wearing of shinguards is compulsory whilst playing both football and hockey according to the
regulations laid down by the respective governing bodies.

3.     The wearing of shoulder padding and scrum caps for rugby is allowed and can be bought from
        sports shops.

4.     For cricket the wearing of a helmet is compulsory when batting or wicket keeping, using a hard ball,
according to the regulations laid down by the English Cricket Board. These are provided by
        the P.E. Department.

 5.     It is advised that goggles are worn whilst swimming in the school pool. These
are available to purchase from the PE Departments.
