18/01/19 Head's Message & Letters
21st January 2019 | Head's Weekly Message |

Dear Parents and Carers

‘Joseph’!
Students are rehearsing hard on what looks set to be a show to rival the best West End production! Tickets for ‘Joseph’ are selling fast for our 4 evening shows next week, starting on 23 January; there is still availability on Wednesday and Thursday, but only a few tickets still left for Friday and Saturday. I know that students and staff have given up many evenings and, more recently, their weekends in order to rehearse. I really do appreciate your support in attending to celebrate their success. Year 11 Berlin History Trip
Approximately 70 students are currently away on a 4-day residential trip to Berlin. I hope that they are having a memorable visit. I know that there will be at times very moving moments as well as some sightseeing – maybe even a visit to the famous Checkpoint Charlie.

PE Parent Sponsorship Opportunity
May I draw your attention to the letter issued by Mr Gunn this week. Just like watching our students perform in their dance and drama shows, it is especially nice to see students looking their best in their sporting events.  This is where you may be able to help – we are offering a fantastic opportunity to get involved by sponsoring our school sports team kits, with a variety of options available. Please do get in touch if you feel this may be something you could help with.

Punctuality to School
May I ask that if you are dropping students off close to School, you allow sufficient time to account for delays caused by traffic and parking availability. Please also make sure if your son/daughter travels by bus, that they allow enough time in the morning to catch this. The first 5-10 minutes of a lesson are often crucial for a recap of recent work or establishing key questions for the hour’s learning ahead. Punctuality affects progress.

If you have any issues with the Arriva bus service, please follow the instructions in this letter, and for Peter Reynolds please contact them via their website

Year 11 Exam Results, Parents’ Consultation and Condensed Day
I know Year 11 are receiving back their marked trial exam papers and analysing their responses to be able to improve upon their answers in future. However, on Friday 25 January they will receive their trial exam grades in a manner that simulates GCSE results day. We then have our Year 11 Parent Consultation on Thursday 31 January from 2.30pm-7.00pm, where there is the opportunity to discuss results in more detail with your son/daughter’s teachers. I look forward to seeing you at this event.

As a reminder, Thursday 31 January is therefore a condensed day. Please see the letters published this week regarding timings of the day and bus services.

Yours sincerely

Mr P Thompson
