Head's weekly message and letters
22nd March 2019 | Head's Weekly Message |

Dear Parents and Carers

I am delighted to inform you that Mrs Chasseguet has been appointed as a staff governor and she has commenced her role with immediate effect.

I visited many classes during this last week and was very pleased with the learning taking place in lessons.  As usual students were engaged and had positive views of their lessons.  They feel challenged and could articulate their strengths and how to improve.

Year 11 Core Trial Exams

Trial Exams in Maths, English and Science continue next week. These will occur within subject lesson time so teaching of other subjects is not affected.  Please ensure your son/daughter’s undertaking plenty of revision so their performance can be a true reflection of their ability, but also help to identify remaining gaps in knowledge which can be addressed in the remaining weeks.

Evening of Dance

Thank you to all students and staff taking part in Wednesday’s ‘Evening of Dance’ – this showcased the high level our GCSE Dance students are performing at, and also highlighted the success of students in other year groups.

Non Uniform Day - Friday 22 March

Money raised from Non Uniform Day will go towards new raked seating and lighting for the new Drama Studio, and the Ricky Playhouse performance space. Year 7’s were asked to bring in a chocolate donation of some kind, to go towards a chocolate tombola at the Years 7 and 8 House Sport Morning; whilst Years 8-11 were asked to bring in a donation of £1.  All Sixth Form students will be raising money for the Toilet Twinning charity. Please see letter issued last week on the School website for more information.

Year 7 and 8 House Sport Morning – Saturday 23 March

This Saturday, the PE and Dance Departments, SSP and PTA are delighted to invite you to our House Sport/Dance morning from 9:00 to 11:30. This is a fantastic opportunity to see your son/daughter excel in a sporting environment as well as meeting their form tutor, PE and Dance teachers.

Herts for Learning Drug & Alcohol Workshop - Tuesday 26 March

The next in our series of parent workshops aims to improve parent/carer confidence in having conversations with their children about issues surrounding drugs and alcohol, including health and the legal implications. It will also provide parents with an insight into signs and symptoms of drug use and its associated paraphernalia. Start time is 7pm. Book your free place here: https://www.trybooking.co.uk/FDB

Year 10 Parent Consultation – Thursday 28 March

Please note this is a condensed day. See letters on website for more information.
