Head's weekly message and letters
17th May 2019 | Head's Weekly Message |

Dear Parents and Carers

Firstly, congratulations to Year 11 on the manner in which they have conducted themselves in their first week of GCSE exams. We have visited many lessons and as we would expect, they have been revising purposefully in silence for the first 40minutes, then allowed to discuss their work with peers within the class for the last 20minutes. This format continues next week and we wish them all the best as their exams enter the second week.

Today was Year 13’s last official day in school and there were some lovely scenes as the students said goodbye to their tutors and teachers they have known for the last 7 years. Their A Level Exams commence next week and we wish them luck also with these which we determine their destination post-Ricky. They have been an excellent cohort of students for other year groups to aspire to.

KS3 Exams commence week beginning 3 June, so no Home Learning is to be set from next week onwards as we want the students to commence their revision during this time. Their teachers as well as the Key Stage team will be providing them with subject-specific and generic tips to aid them in their preparations.

We had the District Athletics event at Hemel this week and it was excellent to see a number of our students participating in both track and field events representing the School.

We are piloting a revision to our mobile phone policy commencing Monday 3 June – please see details in the letter from Mr Carrera who leads on BYOD in the school. Students will be informed of the specifics in assemblies next week.

We wish the DofE students good luck this weekend on their Bronze Award practice in the Chilterns.

Next week the Year 10s go out on Work Experience.  This is a valuable opportunity for them to gain an insight into the job and experience a career path they might wish to pursue.

PTA quiz night -12 July

Tickets can now be purchased via our trybooking service www.tryingbooking.co.uk/JCW for a great evening’s entertainment!  It is not too early to book, so book now to avoid disappointment.  Further information is on our website.

Yours sincerely

Mr P Thompson, Headteacher
