Head's weekly message and letters
5th July 2019 | Head's Weekly Message |

Dear Parents & Carers

This week we had Sixth Form Induction on Monday and Tuesday which was highly successful. The Year 11 students from both Ricky and externally were given sample ‘A’ level lessons in their option subjects, as well as an experience of using the careers software platform Unifrog and undertaking the ‘starter for 12’ independent study activity. They experienced life as a sixth former for two days, with access to the exclusive Sixth Form centre and cafeteria. All the students I spoke to enjoyed the event and we now wish them all an enjoyable summer holidays and look forward to them returning and joining the Sixth Form after their GCSE results in August.

Last week Year 12 Biology students spent 2 days at Amersham Centre developing their field studies skills. This culminated in them all being able to devise and complete their own investigation which all students enjoyed.

We were treated to a spectacular array of Song and Dance by staff and students at the two productions this week. Congratulations to the students on their performances and my thanks to the Performing Arts Team for their hard work and effort staging a showcase event.

Last Friday was the Ricky Oscars (ROscars), which celebrated the Film work of both our GCSE and A level students. Joan Schneider (Disney Producer) gave a short speech to inspire the students and then we were treated to viewings of the students’ film work and then awards and acceptance speeches. It was great to see this event resurrected after a few years’ absence.

We are also on the final push for our Summer Grand Draw – if you have sold tickets and have yet to return the stubs and payment I encourage you to return them as soon as possible. The draw takes place during the Summer Concert on Tuesday 9 July.

Tickets for our Summer Concert on Tuesday 9 July are on sale at https://www.trybooking.co.uk/LAY - £5 Adults, £3 Concessions, £2 Students.

If you are a sports fan, I hope you have been enjoying watching the Ladies World Cup Football, Cricket World Cup and Wimbledon Tennis Championships.

Yours sincerely

Paul Thompson
