Head's weekly message and letters 19 July 2019
19th July 2019 | Head's Weekly Message |

Dear Parents and Carers

Sports Day was a great event last week and I am pleased to announce that Inns won the competition. Congratulations to Springwell who were overall House Winners for 2018-19.

This week has seen four days of trips and events as part of our Activities Week. My thanks to Mrs Pickford for her marvellous organisation, which started many months ago. As usual, we have received many comments from visitors to the School and from external organisations which groups visited, about how well behaved and courteous our students have been.

It was a lovely occasion today to conclude the summer term and academic year 2018-19 with a whole-school Assembly in the Sports Hall. We reviewed many of the events that have taken place during the year, both whole-school and for individual year groups, announced the results of Sports Day and the overall House Competition, awarded PE and Dance colours, and gave an update on the fundraising for the new Resources Centre and Ricky Playhouse. Finally, we recognised the efforts and contribution our staff make to enable the students to have such a rich experience in their time at the School. The students were very generous in their applause. However, what makes the staff wish to go the ‘extra mile’, is the fact that we have such nice pleasant students to work with – well done to them and you!

We say goodbye to the following staff:

Mrs Delaney-Murray, Mrs Doyle, Mrs Agrawal, Ms Thompson, Mr Garside, Mr Eley, Mr Walsh, Mrs Trimbee, Mrs Williams-Lesser, Miss Sparks, and Ms Townshend.

And a special mention to the following staff leaving us who have served at least 5 years at the School:

Mr Douglas (Headteacher, 5 years) who we wish a long, happy and healthy retirement, to Mr Martin (Head of Economics, 7 years) – who will be working for the civil service and to Mrs Pickford (Careers Advisor, 14 years and more recently Acting Director of Operations on the Senior Leadership Team) – who is moving into the independent sector.

I would like to add my thanks too, to all the staff who have given so much of their time to help the students this year; it really is a team effort. I would also like to thank parents and carers for their support and cooperation. Your son/daughter will definitely achieve better outcomes and have the best experience possible with the School and home working together.

I wish you and your family all a safe, relaxing and well-deserved summer holidays, and look forward to working with you again in September. On a personal note, I feel very fortunate and proud to have had the opportunity to lead such a wonderful School this year. I will write to you all again for the final time after the summer exam results.

Best wishes

Paul Thompson

Acting Headteacher
