Consultation on Temporary Enlargement

Consultation on the proposal to temporarily enlarge the number of places at Rickmansworth School, Scots Hill, Croxley Green, Hertfordshire, WD3 3AQ

We are consulting you on the following proposal:

The temporary enlargement of Rickmansworth School, Scots Hill, Croxley Green, Hertfordshire, WD3 3AQ by 30 places from September 2021 and September 2022.

The proposal will support a temporary increase in the size of this school by 30 places (1 form of entry). This means the school will then have the capacity to admit 270 Year 7 pupils in September 2021 and 2022, returning to the current 240 places thereafter.

The school has sufficient space in its existing buildings for these additional pupils but will require internal works to adapt the space.

Why is this being proposed?

Demand for secondary school places has resulted in an insufficient level of capacity for 2021/22 and 2022/23 academic years in South West Hertfordshire. To meet this short-term demand, Rickmansworth School is to temporarily increase the number of places it currently offers to ensure sufficient places across the area.

The alterations required for enlargement

A reconfiguration of the current Design and Technology block will be undertaken to bring three additional classrooms into use.  The proposed works do not enlarge the current footprint of the building but are a refurbishment of the facilities.

Have your say

Rickmansworth School believes that the temporary enlargement of its admission number will have a positive impact for its existing pupils, staff and local community by improving access to school places, providing for enhanced education opportunities and for improved facilities in its existing buildings.
