Safeguarding

The safety and welfare of students is our number one priority. A suite of policies outline the procedures and practices undertaken by all staff to safeguard the children and young people who attend Rickmansworth School.

Our safeguarding policies are implemented through a range of formal and informal safeguarding training. Trustees receive half termly safeguarding updates and we quality assure our safeguarding procedures through external reviews undertaken by safeguarding consultants.

We teach students to be safe through our Supportive Curriculum which starts with primary transition and is embedded through PSHE, assemblies, guest speakers, Personal Development days and the wider curriculum.

Students are encouraged to speak to a member of staff or a trusted adult if they need guidance or advice for themself or a friend. However, we understand that this can be difficult at times and therefore encourage students to contact one of the external partners signposted from the Student Dashboard or the Student Support page of the website if required.

Bullying is not tolerated at Rickmansworth School and students are always encouraged to speak to staff about such behaviour. Alternatively, students can report concerns of bullying behaviour via the report bullying function of the school website.

We adopt a preventative approach to safeguarding by working in partnership with parents and carers, through a range of parent information events and online guidance that can offer early help where required.
