Sixth Form Admissions

Admissions Process

Rickmansworth Sixth Form is a welcoming environment and our new students quickly settle in, reaching their potential and becoming actively involved in our community.

All students should carefully read the entry requirements to the sixth form and for each individual subject they wish to study at A Level. This information can be found in the Policy for Sixth Form Admissions and the Sixth Form Prospectus.

To contact the sixth form team, please email sixthform@rickmansworth.herts.sch.uk.

Internal Admissions

Applications for September 2027 will open on 26 November 2026.

Following the Year 11 trial exams in December, student data is extensively reviewed to identify internal applicants who are not reasonably expected to achieve the entry requirements for sixth form. This review is completed by the Director of Sixth Form, Year 11 Director of Learning, Pastoral Deputy Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher Achievement.

Where applicable, students and parents will be informed in January that admission to the Sixth Form is not reasonably expected and appropriate career guidance will be provided.

Should the student subsequently achieve the minimum points score entry requirement and minimum point score for their chosen subjects, they would still be admitted to the sixth form.

External Admissions

Applications for September 2027 will open on 26 November 2026.

External student meetings as part of the ongoing admissions process may be held during March/April. (Only selected students will be invited to the School to discuss their applications further).

A small number of places sometimes become available on results day. If you are still looking for a place and have met the published entry criteria, please email sixthform@rickmansworth.herts.sch.uk with a copy of your results and will let you know if we can offer you a place.
