The House system is based on nearby lakes which were all former gravel extractions pits in the 1940s. They are now part of a Local Nature Reserve and home to 60 species of breeding birds as well as the largest heronry in the county. This area is also known as the Rickmansworth Aquadrome.
Students are presented with a House lapel badge during their first year at the School in a presentation ceremony. Teachers are also attached to houses and it has been suggested that they are probably more competitive than the students!
There are many inter-House competition throughout the year and brings about a special collegiate ethos.
